Less than nine months ago, the Broadway Performing Academy of Longmont opened its doors, and another one of Kimberleigh Spencer's dreams became a reality.

Kimberleigh Spencer, a native of Longmont, began dancing at the age of 5. After High School, Kimberleigh was awarded a Dance Scholarship to Loretta Heights Arts College in Denver, CO. From there, she has performed abroad the Cruise Ship, Pacific Princess, and the Queen Mary docked in Long Beach, CA. Kimberleigh also played Cassie in the National Tour of A Chorus Line, and starred in numerous shows including: Will Rogers Folloes, 42nd St., and Annie

Kimberleigh is also an accomplished choreographer. She has choreographed for Griswalds Dinner Theater in CA, Evita, Pajama Game, Annie, and was the staff choreographer for Funny Business in Scottsdale, AZ. When Kimberleigh was not performing or choreographing, she was teaching dance. Kimberleigh has been teaching all forms of dance for over 35 years.

There are a few dance studios in Longmont, but only one Performing Academy. Here the students learn not only dance, but stage presence, singing, auditions, and more. In just a few short months, the performing group has performed several times, including benefits for flood relief and the St. Vrain Safe Shelter. The multi-age performing group practices several times a week, and has become a family. They even attend each other's events outside of dance.

Kimberleigh is joined by Niki Roberts (Stage Manager), Michelle Tusinski (Ballet Instructor), Heather Corey (Essentrics Instructor), Gina Matranga (Yoga Instructor), and Amy Nolledo (Fitness Instructor) to provide a wide range of programs for all ages.

Kara Querubin (Age 16) says, "I quit my sports to do this, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. All the kids here are like a family."
